Barn Cottage in the charming town of Bakewell is conveniently located in a quiet back street, close to the facilities of the Peak District market town. It is a pleasant five minute level stroll to the centre of town which offers excellent local amenities. There are Italian, Indian, traditional Derbyshire restaurants and gastro pubs within easy walking or short driving distance of the property.
There are pleasant local walks from the Cottage by the River Wye, the local countryside and the Monsal Trail, all on the doorstep. It also only a short drive to Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.
Bakewell offers the visitor an excellent base from which to explore the Peak District. It has a wonderful selection of interesting villages, with history, in close proximity to visit. There is a weekly street market every Monday, including a livestock market at the Agricultural Centre. Throughout the seasons there are many regular country town and village entertainments such as Chatsworth Horse Trials in May, Bakewell Carnival in July and Bakewell Show.in August, Chatsworth Country Fair in September. There are Carnivals and Well Dressings in surrounding villages throughout the Spring, Summer and Autumn. Not to be forgotten of course the wonderful Christmas decorations in Bakewell and Chatsworth House during November and December
Barn Cottage has the advantage of being close to the town centre yet at the same time being remarkably private, quiet and being in the centre of beautiful countryside. A car is essential to fully explore all this lovely area of Derbyshire has to offer guests.
