The narrowboats at Canal Boat Club At Aldermaston Marina in Padworth, Berkshire are fully equipped and purpose built in the north east of England by local craftsmen who blend traditional skills with contemporary methods and modern materials.

Accommodation includes: Galley with cooker, refrigerator, microwave, sink and all items you will need to cater on board. A comfortable double berth on both sizes of boats and, on the sleeps six, two single berths also. A bathroom with toilet, shower and washbasin and an extra toilet on the six berth boats. A dinette for eating and relaxing during the day, which also makes up to a double berth, if required, at night. Other equipment includes a Television, DVD Player, Radio and CD Player. The boats also have central heating and a 240 volt electricity supply.

Cruising is subject to guests accepting the compulsory tuition, which is only available on check-in days. In exceptional circumstances you may not be able to cruise if the Marina staff are not confident in your ability to use the Narrowboat. Minimum number of able bodied persons required is 2.

Parking is available for one car per booking, additional parking spaces may be available. Guests are advised to bring wet weather clothing. The Club does not guarantee that cruising will be possible since weather conditions; infrastructure repairs or unseen events may impose restrictions over which we have no control. Compensation for loss of cruising time will not be available under any circumstances. Please note you will need a minimum of two fit and active adults, or one adult and a child over the age of 16 years for a 4 berth boat, although it is easier with three. For a 6 berth boat three adults. If on arrival you do not meet these requirements, unfortunately you will not be allowed to cruise.
Canal Boat Club at Aldermaston Marina in Padworth, Berkshire makes an ideal base for cruising the picturesque and peaceful Kennet and Avon Canal and the River Thames.

A three night cruise is available from Aldermaston Wharf to Kintbury and return and a four night cruise from Aldermaston Wharf to Hungerford and return.

One week cruises could include, a cruise west to the picturesque market town of Newbury. There are some nice pubs at the canalside village of Kintbury before arriving at Hungerford, stop off and visit the numerous antique shops and admire the charming canalscape. Then it’s on to Great Bedwyn and Crofton Pump Station, home to the world’s oldest working beam engine. Don’t miss the historic conservation village at Wootton Rivers on your way to the traditional village of Pewsey with its beautiful thatched cottages.

Or Reading, with its host of facilities where you join the Thames and cruise downstream through the rowing town of Henley, the charming town of Marlow, where Shelley and T.S. Eliot once lived, and Cookham, home to the Stanley Spencer Art Gallery. Moor up at Taplow for a visit to Cliveden House or Bray, where you could enjoy a fine meal at either Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck or the Roux brothers’ Waterside Inn. Visit Eton College before arriving at the Royal town of Windsor, famous for its castle and nearby Legoland.

Or cruise east to Reading, with its wide range of facilities and then join the River Thames upstream to Elizabethan Maledurham House, a magnificent Elizabethan building, complete with working corn mill. Just after Goring, moor up for a visit to Beale Bird Park and then it’s on to the pretty market town of Abingdon via Wallingford. The historic dreaming spires of Oxford now await you. Don’t miss a visit to the fabulous Ashmolean Museum and Bodleian Library.

To reach Canal Boat Club At Aldermaston Marina in Padworth, near Reading, Berkshire, leave the M4 at junction 12 and at the roundabout take the first exit onto the A4, Bath Road. At the next roundabout take the second exit following A4, Bath Road. Again at the next roundabout take the second exit following A4, Bath Road. At the next roundabout take the second exit following A340, Basingstoke Road. Take a left turn on Wharfside and the marina office is straight ahead.

The nearest railway station is Aldermaston, which is 300 metres from the Marina.

£500 Refundable Security & Damage Deposit, this is taken as a credit card swipe and is refundable subject to the boat being returned clean, in good order and on time. Pets £30 per pet per week. 4 Berth Utility Fee £45, 6 Berth Utility Fee £57.50 per week. £90 fuel deposit - The boat is handed over ready fuelled but does not include the fuel consumed. A fuel deposit is payable at the start of your holiday. At the end of your holiday period the boat must be refuelled and any difference to the deposit paid will be refunded or charged. £50 Damage waiver - optional, but recommended. It is advisable, for your safety, to watch the Canal & River Trust DVD.
